Welcome to Washington DC and the Beaches and Bygone Days Tour! After check-in join us for drinks at the hotel bar so you can get acquainted with your driver, guide and fellow travellers.
Today we will take you to Virginia and the Arlington National Cemetery just across the Potomac River from Washington DC, in whose 624 acres the dead of the nation's conflicts have been buried since the days of the Civil War. An eternal flame guards the final resting place of President John F Kennedy and Volunteers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment guard the tomb of the unknown soldier. Later, when we return to DC, you will have free time to explore its imposing monuments and buildings – including the iconic ones that house the federal government’s three branches: the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court.
On our final day in Washington you will have more time to explore this wonderful city. This evening feel free to join us on a trip to Georgetown for a final night’s dinner. Georgetown is a charming area with Federal-style Architecture and cobblestone Streets lined with fashion and Design shops. The dining scene is defined by upmarket restaurants and waterfront seafood spots, while nightlife spans boisterous college bars, traditional taverns and intimate live music lounges.
Our destination today is Norfolk Virginia, which is home to the world’s largest Naval base, miles of sandy beaches and an historic downtown district. After a day’s sightseeing sit back and relax as the sun sets over beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
After breakfast we are on our way to Raleigh - which is both the capital city and the music capital of North Carolina. With more than 80 Live Music Venues, Raleigh plays host to such a wide variety of music, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Big bands, small bands, slow bands, fast bands, hard rock and soft ballads. We believe that there is no better way to take in the story of Raleigh's live music scene than by experiencing it first hand. Enjoy it at your own pace.
Our next stop is Wilmington, North Carolina. This pretty port city is known as a gateway to Cape Fear Coast Beaches, with strong surf and long boardwalks. You will have free time to discover downtown’s Historic District and the Riverwalk which is lined with restaurants, galleries and shops. Then it is on to the popular seaside resort of Myrtle Beach, a city and holiday resort on South Carolina’s Atlantic coast, which is the hub of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile string of beaches.
During our stay in the popular resort of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina you will have free time to enjoy and explore everything on offer here. It’s known for its celebrity-designed golf courses, beachfront boardwalk and the old-fashioned Family Kingdom amusement park and the SkyWheel, one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels.
Today we will travel to Charleston South Carolina. This port city was founded in 1670 and is defined by its cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pastel antebellum houses, particularly in the elegant French Quarter and Battery Districts. During our time here you’ll discover everything from historical tours to fun on the water. From art and culture to a vibrant night-life, Charleston has a variety of attractions and adventures that will suit everyone.
Why not spend a relaxing day in the French Quarter or take a horse drawn carriage ride through the beautiful tree lined streets. This evening we will travel to the downtown area for dinner and enjoy some local entertainment.
This morning we will travel to Savannah, a coastal city in Georgia separated from South Carolina by the Savannah River. It’s known for its manicured parks, horse drawn carriages and antebellum architecture. The historic district is filled with cobblestoned squares and parks (and squirrels!) We will have lunch in one of the many riverside restaurants before continuing on to our final destination - Jacksonville Beach. It’s time to relax and enjoy the surrounding areas, beaches and local attractions.
We will make the short journey to St. Augustine today, a city on the northeast coast of Florida which lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S. Known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as St. Augustine Beach and the tranquil Crescent Beach. After our day in St Augustine, we will return to Jacksonville Beach for our evening entertainment.
On our last full day on the Beaches and Bygone Days Tour, the choice is yours. Spend a final day relaxing by the pool or at the beach, or a shopping trip if you need to get some last minute gifts to take home to your family and friends. A group dinner and drinks this evening will complete our time in the USA.
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, our Beaches and Bygone Days Tour comes to an end. We will escort you to Orlando International Airport for your return flight or onward journey.
