Welcome to New Orleans and Buddy and all that Jazz. After checking in to our hotel your tour manager will host a welcome meeting so you can get acquainted with your fellow travellers in the hotel bar.
Today you will have the day to yourself to explore New Orleans and its fantastic French Quarter at your own pace. There is so much to see and do you will be spoilt for choice, but be sure to sample the Coffee & Beignet at the Cafe du Monde and take a tram ride through this wonderful city. Then, when darkness falls, be sure to go to Bourbon Street to enjoy the music and ambience of NOLA!
After breakfast we will travel through Louisiana to Houston Texas, where we will visit the Space Center and enjoy an evening in the downtown area.
This morning we will travel to San Antonio, a city rich in history and bursting with culture. We will visit the famous Alamo before checking into our hotel. After some R & R you are free to explore San Antonio at your own pace. Be sure to take a stroll or a boat ride along the Riverwalk!
Make the most of your visit to San Antonio and enjoy a leisurely day exploring and sight- seeing. Don’t miss your chance to visit the Tower of the Americas - with 360 degree views of Alamo City and its 4D theatre ride on the ground floor.
After breakfast it’s time to leave San Antonio and head for Austin - the capital of Texas - known for its eclectic live music scene centered around country, blues and rock. Then once you have checked into the hotel you will be free to explore Austin and enjoy its famous 6th Street entertainment district!
On this, our second and last day in Austin, make sure you visit the Farmers’ Market and Republic Square where live music is played throughout the day. Or, how about a boat tour on Lake Austin? The choice is yours! This evening, take another trip down 6th Street, or perhaps the quieter Rainey Street Historic District would be your preference?
After breakfast we will make our way to Dallas, Texas and a visit to Southfork - home of TV’s Ewing Family. This evening we will go out as a group to enjoy the Deep Ellum entertainment district. We’ll see more of this fantastic city when we return later in the tour.
This morning, we will set off for the birthplace of the music legend Buddy Holly - Lubbock. We’ll visit the Buddy Holly Center, The West Texas Wall of Fame and pay our respects at Buddy’s grave. Then our evening entertainment will be in the downtown area.
Today we will travel to Clovis, New Mexico and the Norman Petty Recording Studio where Buddy Holly recorded some of his biggest hits and hear stories of him as a young man from the curator of the facility. Tonight the group will visit Cook’s Garage, a dream venue for lovers of all things Americana.
It’s time to leave for Oklahoma City where we’ll visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial. After some free time we will visit Bricktown’s entertainment area.
Today we’ll visit the Oklahoma City Stockyards - where western wear shops and so much more can be found. Then we will enjoy a tour around the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. This evening we will take you to Automobile Alley - which has some of the best shopping, dining and nightlife in OKC!
Bidding a fond farewell to Oklahoma City we will visit the Chickasaw Cultural Center on our way to Fort Worth. This evening we will spend time at Sundance Square.
Today’s activities include a tour of the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas and back in Fort Worth a visit to Billy Bob’s - The World’s biggest Honkytonk!
As your Buddy and all that Jazz tour ends, we will escort you to the airport. We hope to see you on another Travelling Time Music Tour soon!
