Welcome to your Capital to Capitol Tour and Ottawa - Canada’s Capital, in the east of southern Ontario, near the city of Montréal and the U.S. border. After check in, you’ll join your fellow travellers, guide and driver for a welcome drink at the bar.
Today we will spend a few hours enjoying scenic Ottawa before travelling the short distance to Montréal, the largest city in Canada's Québec Province. Quebec is set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River. We will be joined by a local guide who will show us the highlights and tell stories about this wonderful city.
You will have more time to explore the city of Montréal at your own pace. After some well deserved R&R at the hotel, it will be time to spend the evening enjoying the city’s Quartier des Spectacles - Montréal’s fabulous Entertainment District.
We will say au revoir to Canada today and cross the border at the Stanstead Border/Derby Line Vermont crossing. Welcome to the USA! After lunch in Vermont (State #1), we will make our way to Portland Maine (State #2). Here, we’ll explore the Old Port waterfront and the nearby Western Promenade Park. Tonight, you’ll be free to explore Portland at leisure.
Continuing our journey down the picturesque Maine Coastline we’ll stop at the home of the 1692 witch trials in Salem Massachusetts (State #3). We will visit landmarks from this period including the Witch House and the former home of a trial judge. After lunch, we will make the short costal journey to Boston, Massachusetts’ capital and largest city. Founded in 1630, it’s one of the oldest cities in the U.S. This evening, it’s time to relax and enjoy the night life of downtown Boston.
This morning it’s time to continue our New England discovery. First, we will make the short drive to Plymouth, located just south of Boston. In the site of the first Pilgrim settlement, founded in 1620, we will visit Plymouth Rock and see The Mayflower II, a full-scale replica of the ship that carried the Pilgrims across the Atlantic. After lunch we will make another short journey to Providence, the capital city of Rhode Island (State #4 since arriving in New England). After a few hours sight-seeing in Providence we’ll return to Boston for another evening of local entertainment.
This morning we will leave the hotel for a day on Cape Cod! The site of quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses, ponds, bays and ocean beaches. In the large town of Hyannis the John F. Kennedy Museum is the first stop on the Kennedy Legacy Trail through downtown. Ferries depart to the resort islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. You’ll have plenty time to travel on the these local ferries and to enjoy all that "The Cape" has to offer. Then we will make our way back to Boston this evening.
Today we’ll enjoy a driving tour of Concord, the capital city of New Hampshire (State #5). Later, you’ll be free to discover more of what Boston can offer! There is so much to see and do in this vibrant city, you’ll be spoilt for choice! With its many colleges and universities, music, theatre, and entertainment venues, plus an abundance of restaurants, you'll never be at a loss for things to do in Boston.
Leaving Boston we arrive in the 6th and final State in New England, Connecticut! We will pay a visit to the Mark Twain House & Museum in the capital Hartford. After lunch it is time to travel through New York and New Jersey to our home for the next couple of days, Philadelphia. You will be free to explore Pennsylvania’s largest city which displays the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall.
Explore “Philly” - The City of Brotherly Love. Perhaps take a run up the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, immortalised by Sylvester Stallone in the film "Rocky." Let us know if you make it and we will treat you to a Cheese Steak!
This morning we make our way to Washington DC. En route we will cross the state line into Dover Delaware for a coffee break before spending the day at Baltimore's Inner Harbour! This sightseeing hub is home to Maryland's Science Center, Planetarium, Observatory, National Aquarium and much more. From Inner Harbour we make the hour long drive to Washington DC for the first of our 3 nights in the Nation's Capital.
Today starts with a visit to the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, the final resting place of President John F Kennedy. Later, back in DC, you’ll be free to explore imposing monuments and buildings – including the iconic Capitol, White House and Supreme Court.
On our final day in DC, you will have more time to explore this wonderful city. This evening, feel free to join us on a trip to Georgetown, a charming area whose cobblestone streets are lined with shops. There is also an abundance of restaurants and nightlife which spans boisterous college bars, traditional taverns and intimate live music lounges.
Today we reach the end of our Capital to Capitol Tour - and we have to say goodbye to Washington DC and to the USA!
