Day 11
Welcome to our Deep South Music Tour - Country, Capitlas, Jack & Coke! After checking in to your hotel, get to know your tour manager, driver and fellow travellers over a welcome drink and a light meal.
This morning we will visit the World of Coca-Cola before travelling the short distance to Stone Mountain Park. You will have the remainder of the day to explore the park at leisure. Then we'll be returning to Atlanta to enjoy dinner and local entertainment.
This morning, after breakfast, we will visit downtown Atlanta and tour the CNN Studio before making our way to the famous Whistlestop Cafe for “Fried Green Tomatoes”. Our next stop is Macon Georgia, home of soul legend Otis Redding and Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneer - the inimitable Little Richard!
Today we will take a driving tour of Macon to learn about the city’s great musical heritage. We will visit the Allman Brother’s Big House Museum. Then Mercer Music at Capricorn Music Studios will delight fans of Southern Rock. One of the greatest soul singers of all time is celebrated at the Otis Redding Museum. This evening sees us in Downtown Macon to enjoy dinner and local entertainment.
After breakfast we will make our way to Montgomery, Alabama - home of Hank Williams. We'll stop on the way in Columbus, Georgia for a photo opportunity at the “Chattahoochee River”. After lunch in Montgomery and a visit to the Hank Williams Museum and final resting place, it is time to travel the short distance to Birmingham, Alabama. Spend this evening enjoying a meal and local entertainment.
After a leisurely breakfast we will tour the historic 16th Street Baptist Church, where their famous choir sings each Sunday. We travel on to Tuscumbia, Alabama - one of the four cities that make up the Muscle Shoals Area. We'll make a stop en-route at the Jesse Owens Museum. After relaxing and refreshing at our hotel, we will spend our first night in the area enjoying food and live music at the unique Rattlesnake Saloon!
Today it is time to immerse ourselves in the rich musical history of the area. We'll learn exactly why Muscle Shoals became the “The Hit Recording Capital of The World”. We will tour Rick Hall’s FAME Studios, learn about “The Swampers” at Muscle Shoals Sound and other famous Alabama Musicians at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Tonight it is dinner and more live music.
It’s time to bid farewell to “The Shoals” and make our way to Music City - Nashville, Tennessee. We’ll stop in Lynchburg on the way for a tour of Jack Daniel’s Distillery and lunch at Miss Mary Bobo’s. After checking in to our hotel you have free time to discover the best of Nashville. Enjoy its parks, Museums, attractions and the fantastic music and Honky Tonks on lower Broadway and beyond!
After visits to the Historic RCA Studio B and the amazing Country Music Hall of Fame you will have the remainder of the day and evening to sample Nashville at leisure! Be sure to visit Printers Alley, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Robert’s or any of the other Honky Tonks found on Lower Broadway. Enjoy listening to some of the best Nashville musicians playing just for tips!
Use your final day in Nashville to revisit your favourite locations or grab those last minute souvenirs before joining us for a show at The Grand Ole Opry - the perfect finish to your time here!
After breakfast, and en-route to Atlanta Airport for your onward flight, we’ll make a quick stop in Chattanooga for a final memory and maybe even a sing song at the world famous Choo Choo! We hope you have enjoyed your Deep South Music Tour - and will join us on another one soon!
