DAY BY DAY TOUR ITINERARY
Welcome to Dallas Texas! Once you are checked in feel free to join your fellow travellers, guide & driver for an informal welcome meeting.
After breakfast, we will travel to Southfork Ranch, home of TV’s favourite Oil Family, The Ewings! Following our tour we will head into the city and pay a visit to the Dealey Plaza National Historic Landmark District which includes the former Texas School Book Depository, now the 6th Floor Museum – two of the locations forever associated with the assassination of John F. Kennedy. This evening we will take you to Billy Bob’s Texas – the world’s largest honky-tonk!
Today it’s a visit to Fort Worth’s Stockyards to see a cattle drive and so much more! You could enjoy a meal at the famous Cattlemen’s Steakhouse and spend your free time exploring the Stockyards before heading off to Sundance Square for some R&R!
As we wave goodbye to Dallas, we travel to Austin – not just the capital of Texas, but also home to some of the largest music events and festivals in the world, including South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, The Urban Music Festival, and the Pecan Street Festival. If you ever wondered why Austin is known as the Live Music Capital – it’s because Austin has more music venues per capita than anywhere else in the United States. So, after a city tour, you can spend the rest of your time here listening to everything from blues to rock, country to jazz and more. With Austin having nearly 250 live music venues you can catch a show any time on any day.
Today you will have more free time to discover what and who made Austin famous… In American music history, Austin has helped start or grow the careers of big-time artists like Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Willie Nelson. A stroll on 6th Street can turn up music in some unexpected places – so keep your eyes open! Threadgills and Stubb’s BBQ are highly recommended for great food and fantastic music.
Today we will travel to San Antonio and visit the famous Alamo! Learn about the history of the Alamo, its valiant defenders and why, as the saying goes, “Whoever controls the Alamo controls San Antonio and whoever controls San Antonio controls Texas!” It is also said that the Alamo’s history is a “story bigger than Texas.” Our San Antonio adventure will continue with a trip along the beautiful River Walk followed by free time to enjoy this wonderful city.
This morning we will travel Houston Texas to pay a visit to NASA‘s Johnson Space Center. During your tour of the Center, which features more than 400 space artefacts and fantastic permanent and travelling exhibits, enjoy many wonderful experiences and shows which relate to the remarkable past and exciting future of America’s human space-flight program. This is a visit you will definitely not want to miss. After a relaxing couple of hours at our hotel, we will head to the city’s Downtown Area to enjoy a farewell group dinner. Great food, great music and great memories made with friends old and new. The perfect ending to a perfect trip.
Following a leisurely breakfast, our Big Texan Adventure sadly comes to an end! It is time to to wave goodbye to Houston as we travel to the airport for your journey home… or, perhaps, some of you will be extending your tour with us on Travelling Time’s “Boogie Bus” to New Orleans Louisiana.
