After arrival and check-in at our Memphis Hotel, it’s time to meet your fellow travellers at our informal welcome meeting hosted by your Tour Manager and Driver!
Today we will cross the mighty Mississippi River into the Natural State of Arkansas, to visit Johnny Cash’s birth place in Dyess. Back in Memphis, we’ll learn about his part in the the Million Dollar Quartet in Sun Studio. After our tour of Sun we will travel the short distance to the Graceland Mansion to celebrate the life and music of “The King” - Elvis Presley! This evening, maybe head downtown and visit Jerry Lee Lewis’ Cafe & Honky-Tonk, BB Kings Blues Club or any of the other fantastic music venues or restaurants!
It’s time to wave goodbye to Memphis and head to Nashville, known as the capital of country music. The city earned its title with the first airing of the WSM Barn Dance radio program, the forerunner of the Grand Ole Opry. We will be stopping on the way to Nashville in Jackson, Tennessee for a spot of lunch and you will have time to visit The Casey Jones Museum if you wish. After checking in to our Nashville hotel, take your time, relax and get ready to enjoy music in the Honky tonks on Broadway!
We will begin our day with a leisurely breakfast Then we’ll make the short minute drive to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, “The Hit Recording Capital of the World” This afternoon we will become the latest “hit makers” at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and tonight - it’s time for live music and dancing.
After a leisurely breakfast we will start our day by visiting the recording studios that made this beautiful area famous. FAME, Muscle Shoals Sound & Cypress Moon. This evening we will go to one of the most unique venues for dinner and live music - the wonderful Rattlesnake Saloon.
This morning we will bid farewell to Alabama and travel to downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. We'll visit a few local attractions including the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo and have lunch (on your own) before continuing our journey to Pigeon Forge in Sevierville County (Dolly Parton’s place of birth) Once you are settled in to your hotel be sure to take a shuttle ride along the “five miles of fun” The Fun Time Trolley runs up and down the Parkway all day long and it only costs 50 cents a ride! The Pigeon Forge Parkway is a grand focal point in this Smoky Mountain resort. The five-mile strip runs through the city and it is where you can find some of the best Pigeon Forge dining, shopping and attractions.
Today it’s Dollywood, the most popular tourist attraction in Tennessee! Spanning 160 acres in the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood offers more than 50 world class rides, high-energy entertainment, award-winning dining and the friendliest park atmosphere anywhere in the world! This evening is free to do as you please. A couple of recommendations would be: Dolly Parton’s Stampede! This Show is great fun for all ages or The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show which features an all-you-can-eat feast while you enjoy a comical, mountain-style feud!
Your bus will take you on a trip to Gatlinburg today, where you will have a few hours to spend exploring. Perhaps you would like to take the cable car to Ober Gatlinburg and see the black bears and other native creatures - the choice is yours! After lunch (on your own) we will take a "Mountains & Moonshine Tour" and then go to Pigeon Forge for some shopping and if you wish you can return to the hotel with the us - or enjoy more fun on Pigeon Forge's Parkway.
Tonight’s entertainment will be a show at Country Tonite Theater. Repeatedly voted the best show in the Smokies, the great thing about this show is that you don’t even have to be a fan of country music to LOVE Country Tonite! It’s that “feel-good” kind of show that will stay with you long after your holiday is over.
We will begin our day with a leisurely breakfast and then it is time to say farewell to the Great Smoky Mountains and hello again to the home of Country Music - Nashville, Tennessee and you will be free to explore Music City at your own pace.
You will have more free time to explore the best Music City Attractions, and enjoy great live music on Broadway! Perhaps a show at The Grand Ole Opry, or even a cruise and show aboard the General Jackson!
